About the Camp

The Franklin Band and Orchestra Camp was started in 1986 by Lawrence Walker and Karen Von Bernewitz. Their vision was to support school music programs by increasing enrollment and retaining students through a comprehensive summer camp serving Fairfax and Loudoun counties. Cynthia Crumb took over as Assistant Director of the camp in 1988. Under the direction of Mr. Walker and Ms. Crumb, the camp has grown from 115 campers in 1986 to 650 campers last summer!

Campers will have the opportunity to develop skills on their instrument and in ensembles to help them prepare for the next school year.

Camp Mission

The mission of the Franklin Band and Orchestra Camp is to provide quality music instruction, both challenging and fun, that will support the school band and orchestra programs during the school year.

Camp Goals

The Franklin Band and Orchestra Camp strives to meet the needs of every camper. Each camper is placed in an ensemble which will provide a challenging and fun environment for personal growth.
